IV. Protocols of GPS recievers

The protocols are used to determine current position, velocity, altitude etc.

1. NMEA-0183 over COMM port

The following sentencies are supported: $GPRMC, $GPGGA, $GPGLL, $PGRMZ, $PGRME, $HCHDG.

2. Garmin protocol over COMM port

A800 protocol is supported.

3. Garmin protocol over USB

A800 protocol is supported.

V. Graphics limitations

The full graphics functionality of the software is available just in Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Other versions of Windows operating system provide limited functionality as described below. (Note these are limitations namely of OS but not GPSMapEdit itself).

1. Windows 98/ME. Magnification of raster maps over 4õ is not supported.
Higher stretching will lead the program to output a gray rectangle instead.

2. Windows 98. Polygon or polyline may have no more 16384 points (the rest of points is ignored).

3. Windows 98/ME. While rendering of image compressed in its dimensions (in Mini-map window and while scaling raster map down), all the excessive pixels are simply deleted causing low quality image output.
In contrast, Windows 2000/XP supports halftone merging of ajacent pixels so providing high quality image rendering.

4. Windows 2000/XP. Magnification of raster maps over 14õ is not supported.
Higher stretching will lead the program to output a gray rectangle instead.

VI. Other limitations

Windows 98/ME. There is no combobox with scales in the toolbar.
This is temporary limitation of GPSMapEdit, planned to be removed in a future releases.
