Updating GDI+

IMPORTANT! The previous version of GDI+ is reported as containing critical security hole in JPEG support; please read Microsoft's Security Bulletin MS04-028 for details.

(a) If your computer runs under Windows XP, please install Microsoft's fix KB833987.
(b) If you already downloaded gdiplus.dll from this site before September 26th, 2004 (and hence you use an operating system other than Windows XP), it is highly recommended to update this file to the new version issued by Microsoft (September 14th, 2004). (NOTE: You may download the latest version of gdiplus.dll directly from Microsoft's site.)

Installation of GDI+

GDI+ is the new graphics technology developed by Microsoft. It provides rich set of additional graphics features for 3rd-party developers. GDI+ is distributed as part of Windows XP, while for other operating systems an additional redistributable file installation is required. You may found additional information about GDI+ on the Microsoft's Web-site.

GPSMapEdit 1.0 uses GDI+ for image loading. Without GDI+ properly installed, all features of the program will be available except loading PNG and TIFF images.

(a) If your computer runs under Windows XP, no additional files are required: GDI+ is already available as a part of this operating system.
(b) If your computer runs under Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT4.0 SP6 or Windows 2000, please copy and unpack the file gdiplus.dll (908 KB) to the same folder as mapedit.exe.
